The padlock is one of the oldest items in the Louis Vuitton vocabulary. Before becoming an ornament, it was used to secure trunks: a small, numbered brass case, delivered with its keys, which has spanned the century without changing its shape and now hangs from the handles of Speedy and Alma bags. Making it into a key holder is therefore a natural evolution — the House reclaims its own functional object here and uses it as a design motif.

This model brings the two pieces of the duo together: the padlock and its key, suspended side by side. The padlock features an openwork LV monogram and is filled with marbled brown resin, creating a tortoiseshell effect — a material the House rarely uses on its charms, adding a warm depth that metal alone cannot provide. The solid gold-tone metal key balances the composition, and the set leads up to a ring and a lobster clasp bearing the Louis Vuitton engraving.

It is a multi-use accessory. Clipped to a bag handle, it completely changes the look; attached to a belt loop, it can be worn as a waist ornament; used on its own, it returns to its primary function as a key holder. At 12 × 3.5 cm, it remains compact while having enough presence to be noticed.

Good condition — micro-scratches from use on the gold-tone metal, typical of a pre-loved piece, with the resin in good condition and the lobster clasp perfectly functional.
